If that crazy "lateral" play at the end of the game would have resulted in an actual Pittsburgh touchdown, this blog would have read a lot different that it does.
First of all, how is it that there wasn't one penalty during that entire play. Everytime you see a team try that college "just keep the ball alive" play, you will see at least one flag. Maybe a holding call, or a lateral that was really an illegal forward pass.
This time...none. But Antonio Brown stepped out of bounds at the Miami 13 yard line and time had expired...a win for the Dolphins!
Miami is sitting in a very good spot for a playoff run, thanks to a solid performance by Ryan Tannehill in his first snow game. Did you see that long run he pulled off? I don't think he has a problem with cold weather games. Yes, he threw his seemingly obligatory INT, but also threw for 3 TDs in less-than-great weather conditions.
The Steelers had been resurgent of late, although they lost to Baltimore on Thanksgiving. Still, a decent team, despite their record and the Dolphins took care of business.
Miami is right now on the outside looking in, but they are the first of those teams, meaning if the Ravens falter (and they have a tougher schedule than the Dolphins for the final 3 games), and the Fins can win out (that means beating New England this weekend, they just lost TE Rob Gronkowski for the season), 10-6 will get them into the playoffs.
9-7, which was my prediction for this season at the outset, might also do the trick, but that means Baltimore would have to lose two of their games. They play against the Patriots, Detroit and Cincinnati.
Fins, you are in control...beat the Pats, Bills and the Jets (again), and I believe you make the playoffs.
